WEEKLY THEMES
Week of 9/13: Apples - This week the students will make applesauce, taste three different kinds of apples and identify the four parts of the apple: skin, flesh, core and seeds.
Week of 9/20: Fall / Seasons - This week the students will explore what will happen to all the leaves on the trees. They will make leaf rubbings and we will go outside to hunt for different kinds of leaves. In addition, we will observe how the Earth's movement around the sun impacts the seasons.
Week of 9/27: My 5 Senses - This week the students will be exploring their five senses and by the end of the week they will be able to name all five: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and touching. The students will try to identify objects in the mystery box by only touching them and we will see what else we can indentify by smell and taste.

RELIGION / God Made the World
Week of 9/13: God Made Me - This week the children will know that God made all people. They will learn to be grateful that God made them. The children will grow in self-esteem and respect for all people.
Week of 9/20: God Made My Family - The children will understand how family members love and help one another. The children will know that Jesus, Mary and Joseph are the Holy Family. They will have the desire to show love and concern for their family members.
Week of 9/27: God Made My Friends - The children will know what a friend is and be grateful for their friends. They will learn to consider Jesus a friend and try to be good friends to others.

PHONICS / PRINTING
Yellow Group: The students will learn letters and sounds for the following letters: C A I R O G
This group will begin to learn how to build letters A-F. We will also spend time doing free choice writing on a vertical surface. Then we will concentrate on drawing vertical lines and horizontal lines.
Green Group: The students will review all letters and sounds. They will practice identifing vowels and begin to understand syllables.
They will build the following letters on the blue mats: A-J
They will also work on perfecting their grip and controlling the crayon to make straight lines in order to write neat letters.
